The items requested will provide the SPED department with some of the resources that will help us accommodate our students' needs. For example, the calculators will help us accommodate our students with learning disabilities, specifically in math. The calculators we purchased some years ago are now old and beginning to fail. Instead of us scrambling around for working calculators, receiving a brand new set of working calculators would be incredibly helpful. The other item requested is a printer with spare ink. In our department we heavily rely on art projects and classroom decorations in order to assist us in managing students in emotional distress. We would print out classroom decorations in order to create and environment that will encourage positivity, and soothe our students, specifically during moments of distress. Having access to a color printer and scanner would help our department immensely. No more requesting color print outs to then cross our fingers and wait. Or waiting for our scanner to be available in order to scan a bunch of documents we need digitized. We would be able to streamline the process and work more efficiently. Printing out work packets for students who are in quarantine would also be incredibly helpful, not just to the staff, but to the students.
