All of my students are passionate and excited about art. Our art classes have limited resources, and I would like to be able to offer more design options for my students on a daily basis in both the ceramics classes and my advanced art classes. We generally have enough funds to cover clay, glazes and minimal decorating materials (like underglaze for ceramics). The Cricut Maker would give my ceramics students another option to create more intricate and complicated patterns and designs on the surface of their pottery. We can use these cut pieces to create layers using underglaze and glaze which will create more interest on the surface of the pottery. Students would be taught how to use the Cricut program. Our goals correspond to the National Art Standards of Creating--specifically, "Through experimentation, practice and persistence, demonstrate acquisition of skills and knowledge in a chosen form of art." Students will be asked to develop a series of clay projects that focus on using patterns.
