Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a key component of our instruction across the content areas. If students are well socially & emotionally, research has shown that they will achieve more academically in school. SEL impacts relationships both at home and at school. It builds community and creates a safe environment where students feel valued. Our school is a PBIS school (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) and SEL is a critical component of our success. SEL learning promotes each and every Nevada Academic Content Standard and will help supplement learning that was lost during the COVID shutdown. I have chosen books that address social emotional needs that I see in the classroom and around the school most frequently. Not only will these books be utilized and available for my classroom, but I would like to share with my team and other grade levels as they desire.
