My students chose to continue with distance learning this year. This means that many of them have not been on a school campus or in a physical classroom for 18 months or more. Many are missing math skills in addition to the social interactions that allow them to have positive connections with others. Help me make that personal connection with these students even though I will likely never meet them face to face. I love to send positive notes and messages and supplies like postcards, notecards, and stamps will help me to continue to do that. A larger workspace will also allow me to use multiple monitors and additional devices, such as a document camera, to better model the math work for them. Seeing me write on screen with a touchscreen laptop doesn't always have the same impact as seeing it done on pencil and paper. This larger workspace gives me room to do this next to my computer and allows students to see and experience math in a different way.
