Since many of these students have never traveled outside of 50 miles or experienced a big city, they often struggle to comprehend some of our stories. These materials will help my students to visualize vocabulary they are not familiar with, taxi, skyscraper and traffic jam. Many of our stories are about the National Monuments in Washington D.C. By providing them with excellent photographs, my students can travel virtually to these places and understand what it is like to travel to a big city and experience hot dog stands, Central Park, the Space Needle and graffiti.
