I work in a Title I school where over 80% of our students are economically disadvantaged. We do not have the funds to buy the things each class desperately needs. I have been in my classroom for 8 years now and have the same creaking, cracking, and broken chairs. I could really use some new chairs. I believe my students will get more out of learning if they can sit comfortably in a chair. Every time a student moves the chair creaks and it disrupts someone's learning time. Some chairs are cracked due to their age. The students tend to swing their legs, kick the desk, or try to put feet in chair with them since it is not comfortable on their legs to hang down. An accurate writing posture is not able to happen while sitting in the chairs they sit in now. If they have smaller chairs I can lower the desk to fit the smaller chairs.
