I am starting ICAP activities as early as Middle School to begin engaging students at an early age in academic and career development activities. In doing so, students begin a process to learn about their unique interests, strengths, values, and learning styles.
In addition, students also become exposed to various careers so they can begin creating a vision of their future and setting academic, personal, and career goals in order to see that vision become reality.
The babydoll will be used to expose students to early jobs such as babysitting. Students will also be exposed to childcare occupations.
The blood pressure kit will be used to expose students to Health Careers. At K. Tech -Hugo, High School students and adults can become certified in various health fields such as CNAs, Veterinarian assistants, and other entry-level health positions.
The fingerprint kit will expose students to the law enforcement careers such as police officers and detectives.
The microscope and slides will expose students to scientists in order to increase interest in STEM careers.
The MERGE cubes will be used with the iPads I currently have to expose them to more STEM careers through interactive apps.
The delivery trucks will expose students to the Diesel Technology Program in which High School students and adults can become certified on various diesel equipment.
The construction trucks will expose students to the Heavy Equipment Operator Program in which High School students and adults can become certified on various construction equipment.
The mini-robots will expose students to coding and various STEM careers.
The miniature dollhouses are a great way to have students realize how many careers are involved at one time, how they can be entrepreneurs and own their own stores, and learn of various businesses they may see around in their own communities.
