Independent reading plays a critical role in the development of young readers. Choice in book selection is an incredibly important part of this practice. These books will allow my students to develop their reading stamina, and read books within the 4th-5th grade level band (RL4.10, RI4.10, RL5.10, RI5.10). Small group instruction and reading conferences are also at the heart of developing independent readers. These books will also be used to support small group instruction and reading conferences, where I can teach and reinforce grade level standards in reading and writing.

About my class
