The materials used will help students with learning foundational literacy skills. The professional resources will be a resource to use with teachers and parents. As an Orton-Gillingham trained teacher and certified Structured Litearcy Dyslexia Interventionist, I use a variety of materials to help my students be successful readers and writers. The Orton-Gillingham approach is language-based; multi-sensory; structured, sequential, cumulative but flexible; cognitive, direct and explicit, emotionally sound, diagnostic and prescriptive. I work with students in small groups; the students support and encourage each other. I move through the instruction with the students as slow as I must yet as fast I can. Day by day, the students experience success and see themselves as reader and writers.
