We are a Title 1 school, most of our students cannot afford to purchase a musical instrument. The school provides instruments for the students to play on. The majority of the orchestra inventory is made up of instruments that are 20+ years old and most have string sets that have never been replaced. Some of these instruments play incredibly out of tune due to that. Students know they sound out of tune and get discouraged when playing. Having new strings will alleviate these issues. Students need to be encouraged and to feel good about what they play and how they sound.
