These books and authors allow for my students to remain engaged in texts while also supporting comprehension and our goal of fostering life-long learners! Students will engage in their texts while reading in book clubs. These texts were chosen because they embedded social issues which is a unit of study we are entering within our learning. Additionally, these authors are local to our roots which will allow us to see though the eyes of people in our home state and landmarks. Getting our hands on new texts such as this will help foster their love of learning.
