This is my first year teaching so unfortunately, my classroom library is small as of right now. Because of my small collection, students do not currently have much of a selection to choose from. Since I teach 2nd grade, a big portion of the school day consists of reading and comprehension skills. I want to provide a classroom library that helps engage my students and gets them excited to read and learn. Some of my students do not have many books at home, or the opportunity to buy books of their own, so I also want to provide my students with the ability to take a couple of books home to read each night. The books I have selected are engaging and diverse and will be used for many, many years!
