Our preschool classroom is composed of 9 busy sets of hands, feet, and minds. We are in a public school located inside a low-income neighborhood in a Large Midwestern City. We are considered a Title I school meaning that the majority, if not all of our students receive free or reduced lunch. The world in the eyes of my students is a blank canvas ready to be painted with their interpretation of the world that surrounds them. It is an outlet for expressing their ideas, emotions, and for exploring the possibilities that surround them. Every day our art center is busy. I describe it as beautiful chaos. The sound of construction paper cutting, glitter sprinkling, paintbrushes stroking, and humming is all beautiful chaos in the eyes of those who step into our classroom.
Our art center is in high demand. Students go in and out of our center daily and wait patiently for their turn. Whatever materials we did receive were already used or are beginning to run down or run out. Any new art materials that are introduced in the center are always a highlight of our day. Having supplies and materials donated to our classroom would allow for my students to continue their love for art and continue their creative expression. These materials will allow us to explore our love and appreciation for art further and open a pathway to our learning and classroom activities. Thank you in advance.
