The students will use their math whiteboards and manipulatives during whole class and small group instruction. Through observation I will determine whether my students have a strong understanding of each concept. I will be able to give students immediate feedback to support those students that do not understand. I will also see the students that grasp the concept and need to be pushed further. Our diverse classroom is made up of students reading at many different levels. I will be able to meet the needs of all of my students as they choose books that are at their reading level. Struggling students will be challenged in small group guided reading as they work to become independent readers. Our strong readers will be given opportunities to push their reading even further as they continue to improve their skills. These books will engage students as they explore different animals. Science is brought into Language Arts as students read about and research different animals. Students will also have fun as they practice their site words through playing games. All lessons will be aligned with the Nevada Academic Content Standards.
