My students are working so hard this year. I would like to find a fun way to teach them responsibility and reward their amazing choices each day. Through this grant I will be able to implement a class pet system. Teaching responsibility can be such an abstract concept for my 2nd graders however, having class pets will make it concrete and fun for them. When students make those great choices they will earn coins. Then with those coins they will be able to purchase a desk pet. Then they will continue to earn coins to "feed" their pet and to buy items that are needed for their habitat. So through this project I am able to teach the concept of habitats but also teach my students responsibility.
