My students need additional practice with phonics. With virtual learning in Kindergarten, they did not have sufficient exposure, experience, and practice with letter recognition and letter sounds. Students are needing more experience with phonics and I need ABC centers to provide students to practice and enjoy learning as they acquire letter-sound correspondence. Once students know the sounds the letters they see in print make, they are then able to blend and manipulate those sounds to begin reading words. Because many of my students entered first grade lacking letter recognition, they are struggling to read. I want them to experience the joy and excitement as they begin to grasp the foundations of reading. The ABC centers will give my students the experience they need to begin reading.
