Computer Science and Integrated Technology standards are a critical part of today's learning for students to prepare them to be college and career ready. Students need to start as early as possible to develop the mindset to be an empowered learner, digital citizen, knowledge constructor, innovative designer, computational thinker, creative communicator, and global collaborator. In a world that is becoming increasingly dependent upon technology and computers as we are propelled deeper into the digital world, students must be given opportunities to explore engaging and rigorous problem solving tasks. "Coding is today's language of creativity. All our children deserve a chance to become creators instead of consumers of computer science." - Maria Klawe. With the BBC Micro:bit and Raspberry Pi resources, my students will be able to explore the world of coding by programming these fun computers to create and solve problems that are relevant to world around them as they develop the core concepts covered by the Nevada Academic Content Standards for Computer Science and Integrated Technology while having fun collaborating and pushing their thinking outside of the box. Not only will students learn how software and hardware work together, the world of coding will open them up to unlimited possibilities!
