I am a first year teacher that was placed in a classroom two months after the start of the school year. While I have prepared my whole life to work with children, I didn't gather all the manipulatives that I would need to effectively teach a Pre-Kindergarten classroom. With that being said I strongly believe in center based learning at this age. Students are going to learn from doing rather than from the teacher speaking to the whole group. Having these items would allow for my students to reach each developmental milestone while actively engaging them through play.
