I strive to create a technology classroom that provides a wide variety of opportunities for students to learn. As students get older and more tech-savvy, they become interested in using technology in new ways. I have provided opportunities for students to delve into such exciting technology adventures as 3-D printing and video editing and creation. Most recently, my students have become interested in graphic design. Unfortunately, there is no room in our budget for the graphic design items to be purchased. I have been using some of my personal items and have been spending a lot of my own money to buy materials for the students to use.
The students are very interested in creating one-of-a-kind wearable art, using a sublimation printer. The art classroom is next door, and the art teacher and I collaborate often on projects of this sort. This printer will add to the opportunities found in my classroom by providing a way to print using the process of sublimation. Students will learn to create designs (with some overlap with their art class), digitize their artwork, and print it onto shirts, jackets, etc. I cannot wait to see how excited they will be when they discover what they can make and show off their finished products!
