As part of our Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) system, students earn points every day for following our school and classroom expectations, being helpful, showing integrity, being prepared, being a team player, going out of their way to do something kind, and through many more positive actions. Only positive points are given. No negative points are assigned. These points accumulate and every two weeks or so, we open up the Warrior Cart! Our Warrior Cart is a store that provides an opportunity for our middle school students to shop for rewards with the points that they have earned. Currently, our “cart” is a large storage cabinet that sits stationary in one of our classrooms. This is not an ideal setup and is also not very efficient. During our first buying opportunity early this school year, a lot of time was wasted because students had to walk to a different floor of the building and wait while other students took their turn shopping. We are looking for a better solution. We believe a mobile shelving unit will be the best resource for our Warrior Cart. This will allow us to neatly display, stack, and arrange the rewards allowing students to better view what is available for purchase. This shelving unit with wheels will also give us the flexibility to have the Warrior Cart visit each classroom instead of the students leaving their room, walking to another floor, and then waiting while in a completely different location. This will become a faster method and highly efficient compared to what we are using at this current moment.
