I'm working to build a Free Voluntary Reading library for my classroom. My Latin courses are very reading heavy, and the best way to get better at reading is to read more. I want to give my students more options than just their textbook for stories, characters, and situations. Having a wider variety of materials that appeal to many different interests and have a larger range of representation will be incredibly beneficial in getting my students invested in reading and in improving their ability with the language. My plan is to start all my students with 15 minutes of free voluntary reading time twice a week. My goal is to build their focus and interest so that I can increase their time spent pleasure reading.
