The materials chosen for my project will help my students practice mindfulness, aide with sensory deficits, and self regulation. In order for learning to occur, the trauma brain needs to be regulated. The hydroponic gardens will be used for my students to grow their own medicinal plants such as sweetgrass, which is used to help with emotional wellness and healing. Many of my students experience anxiety, depression, and many other mental health challenges. These materials were chosen in hopes to help develop healthy coping strategies, provide a safe, calming environment and build resiliency.
