Music changed my life and the way I see the world. I can see it with different lenses. The impact that music has on the development of our future generation is crucial. I think education is the best tool to make the world a better place. My 6th and 7th grades are taking percussion and they are learning music. Mostly rhythms and new notation. However, I believe they can also play with some melodies and harmonies that will help them to understand music from a different perspective. That is why we will be using boomwhackers instruments to have more elements of music involved. Playing with boomwhackers will help them play as an ensemble which will teach them collaboration and how to work in teams. These new abilities will help them to develop their social skills. Also, playing the boomwhackers will help them memorize and learn notes with temperate intonation. When they play a song with other instruments it will be easier to make those connections.
