Two seniors at our campus founded the sewing club this 2021-2022 school year after volunteering at Well Being Studio, an organization that makes plushies for children battling cancer. The Sewing club now has 40 members and counting! The items in the project will provide sewing club members and officers with the materials they need to continue making projects for organizations like women’s shelters, senior homes, and charities focused on aiding children. Prospective projects include quiet books, finger puppet-book sets, pacifier clips, plush toys, and tree ornaments that will be donated to children and women in the community. Decorative quilts for the school and elderly seniors will also be donated. In the pictured project, a felt book and finger puppet set shares the story of an elderly mouse facing ageism in his workplace that resulted in his alienation from the world. The sewing club plans on utilizing the medium of art to share meaningful lessons in an attempt to raise awareness of social issues.
