I have a great group of students with a variety of different learning difficulties. The majority of my students are on the Autism Spectrum. For many of my students, this is the first year they are being fully included in general education. My students will benefit from having a variety of sensory items available to them. Sensory items allow kids to regulate their emotions when they are feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Whether needing to refocus, time to decompress, deal with anxiety, my students can benefit from these basic tools. It would be great to have a quiet place in my classroom where my students have access to these sensory items when needed.
