North Carolina High School Battle of the Books (HBOB) encourages the youth of North Carolina to read books, have fun, and compete by demonstrating their knowledge of books. HBOB is a book-related competition for students in grades 9-12. Students are quizzed about books that they have read from the designated 2021-22 NC Battle of the Books reading list. Our team is sponsored by our school Media Center and will compete in the High School Division for Region 7 sponsored by North Carolina School Library Media Association. Our high school competition is similar to the TV series Family Feud style of competition. However, the structure, format, and rules of the competitions do vary from year to year depending on the educational goals, student needs, local resources, and personal preferences at various school sites, school districts, county libraries, and offices of education. The North Carolina School Library Media Association believes in literature-based education and is committed to student learning as well as providing enriching extracurricular opportunities for student intrapersonal growth. Our AHS 2021-22 HBOB team needs the funds to purchase the 15 required books for this academic year's competition for Region 7 and this contribution would be truly appreciated. These books would become a part of the circulation materials at AHS Media Center once the competition is completed in May 2022 for continued patron checkout.
