This school year we started off focusing with all our students on diversity and social justice. The teachers decorated the halls and their classroom doors. In the resource room, I will further their learning with activities that address their goals in reading and math by reading, measuring, cutting things using the cutting board (with assistance and supervision), using sand timers to time themselves on certain task, and help them create items using the Cricut Joy to help them express how they feel about diversity and social justice in a positive way. They will be able to display their posters, carry their bags or wear their t-shirts to show off to others. Teachers play a central role in helping students understand and accept people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, as well as those with disabilities.
