I have a class of 22 5th graders who love to create. I have noticed that when they are drawing, coloring or making pictures to represent the stories they read, they are the most well-behaved. They are so focused on what they are doing, they get lost in their creations. My students often create pictures at home to bring to me as a gift. Anytime I start to ask if they want to do an art project, the hands shoot up before I even get finished with my question. Last week when I gave them a math booklet for test review, they couldn't wait to decorate the cover; they like to make everything their "own".
