Scholastic news provides students with current events and news in a way that is engaging and also appropriate for their grade level. It provides students with the opportunity to engage with the text as a paper copy, as well as digitally with interactive resources for students to engage with. That way students can engage with the materials at school, digitally at home, and eventually bring home their physical copy to share their learning with their families. Scholastic magazines provide an interesting, engaging, and visual way for students to be engaged in grade-level current events. I plan to use these to engage students in reading and discussing non-fiction texts while fostering their innate curiosity about the world.
