My students attend a rural public school in Alabama. 78% of our students receive free or reduced lunches due to the poverty within the area. Literacy is a problem within this area. Our school is 78% African American and 22% Caucasian. Although the students are highly energetic and eager to learn, they are faced with the problem of deficiencies in reading levels. It is a continuous struggle to try to increase the reading ability of all of the students.
