My students are getting academic lessons all day long, but coming into middle school they have not been exposed to any vocational training. Supplying our brand new classroom kitchen will help them get ready for the real world of jobs after middle and high school. We work weekly on recipes and kitchen safety procedures but do not have the proper tools to go further into our lessons. Each week the students plan out what they want to cook that week using the tools we currently have on hand then make a shopping list. With these new items, the students will be able to expand their recipes each week which in turn will help them learn more about the different kitchen tools needed to complete specific recipes. It will expand their knowledge of reading, following directions, and measurement, along with cooperation. With these supplies, the students will gain the knowledge and skills that will go beyond my classroom and prepare them for the future!
