The Mats will provide a space for students to sit while learning Spanish. By removing the tables and using Mats, we are able to move around more within the classroom environment and keep students engaged and active while learning Spanish. Students use the mats to sit and talk with other students and create a more relaxed environment for learning another language. On a typical day, we are able to stand on the Mats in a circle and recite a poem. Then we break into pairs and sit on Mats to discuss the prior weekend. Next the class is standing on the Mats and we discuss vocabulary. When I am teaching a tense, students can choose to be seated or standing.
