Even in a general education classroom, every student needs something different for it to truly be their least restrictive environment. I do not want my students' learning to be limited by a lack of seating options when working in small groups or independently. Flexible seating is a way I hope to meet the individual needs of each of my kindergarteners. Four and five-year-olds deserve the ability to release energy in a way that does not impede their learning. With your support, my students will be able to opt to sit in a wobble chair or flexible floor seat when working in small group centers or independently. This will give them a safe and healthy way to self-regulate their bodies to help them focus, learn, and thrive in my classroom.
