All of my students, when they come to Physical Education class, always talk about how the time flies by so quickly, and they wish they could have more time in the gym. I only get to see my students for 40 minutes per week, which equals about 36 times in a school year. The materials for this project would give students more time to do the activities they learn and love in P.E. Activities like End Zone Ball, Pin Ball and Protect the Pin (gator skin balls), Cone Soccer (plastic cones), Jump Rope Ninjas and Jump the Creek (long and short jump ropes) and Clean My Room and Steal the Treasure (splash balls). Each station area will be designated for a specific activity. There will be a storage bin with the equipment needed for the game and instructions taped to the bin lid on how to play. My plan is to train my classroom teachers on each game bin so that they will know how to use each one when they go out for recess. I also plan to have P.E. helpers to take the bins out each morning and then collect them and put them inside in the afternoon. If this project is funded it will provide my students with the opportunity to practice and work on skills they learn in P.E. class, give them time for social interaction with their classmates, provide them something active to do to keep them busy and out of trouble during recess, and it will also provide students with an opportunity to be a responsible leader in the school if they are chosen to be PE helpers.
