Our after school guitar program has been an absolute hit and I have students asking for permission slips to join the guitar club daily. I currently have 24 kids and 7 guitars. Each student has to wait their turn limiting their practice time. By providing more guitars I will be able to reach more students and increase each student's hands on time. Music has been my companion when I've felt alone, my sense of hope when I've felt frustration. Music has calmed me down when I've felt anxious and has lifted my spirits when I've been down. Music has been a source of expression when I've felt silenced. Music has inspired me to write and laugh and sing and dance. Music has allowed me to worship and understand. Music is the connection to my past, present and future. If I can pass a fraction of that sense of fulfillment to my students then I've enriched their lives.
