My third graders here in Central Florida are 70% free or reduced lunch children who do not have the resources to buy the newspapers and magazines that will keep them up-to-date on current events. The Weekly Reader will give them that news in a kid-friendly format. Then, they will compose their own newspaper in reaction to that news...full of opinions shaped by factual events. If you appreciate good writing, your dollars will help them become the reporters, editors and leaders of tomorrow. Our Writing Bug Club meets after school, and is now in its 4th year. We have letters of commendation from non-profits which have received our work, and parents and administrators are very supportive. Help us make writing more satisfying for these budding writers!
