Having a place that is ready for learning in a small group has made a world of difference. We are currently using my teacher desk, but it just doesn't have a lot of room on it and it is hard to fit the students around the desk. Having a designated area will make it easier and more inviting for the students. They will be invited to come to an area to be comfortable and have room to work and have room to practice while I can easily see all of them and help them as they need it. The shelf would be a great way to keep the work there for them, so that they aren't trying to keep up with more paperwork. It will also store the helpful items, such as dry erase boards, dry erase markers, erasers, highlighters, etc. that will be used at the small group table to practice their math problems.
