These novels will be used by all of the English department. As an English department we are moving away from reading whole class novels. Students tend to lose interest. Research has shown that students are more likely to read when they are given a choice. We need more titles to make this happen. We want to give students a choice of 4-5 books for a unit. This way students can choose a title that interests them. Students will also meet in groups to discuss the book. Reading is essential to learning. Choice in reading will encourage students to develop a love of literature.
