Just like the rest of Northwest Arkansas, the Lincoln school district has been growing over the past several years. In fact, it has grown enough that the fourth and fifth grade classes have had to be moved out of the elementary school and into the middle school. Because of this, I am having to split the resources of the elementary music room between two different schools. This limits the amount of instruments that I can use at both schools. Smaller instruments are easy to transfer between two different schools, but big instruments such as xylophones are very difficult to take back and forth. For the past few years, the middle school has depended on recorders for their small size. Now, because of the pandemic, we need instruments that don't require our mouths to play. With this new set of Orff instruments, I could keep a complete set at the elementary school and have another set at the middle school. This would allow all kindergarten through fifth grade students to learn an instrument that is safe and sanitary, as they don't require our mouths to play, and can easily be disinfected between students.
