The materials purchased for this project will be used to help students learn about the Japanese book-binding technique also known as stab binding. They will make their own book and be able to use it as a journal, sketch book, poetry book or to write their own story/novel. It will bring together culture and art and allow students to try their hand at a simple sewing technique. Our library offers students many opportunities to create in what we call our "makerspace". This Japanese book-binding activity will bring students together to learn about this ancient art as well as create a beautiful book that they can give as a gift or keep for their own treasured art and/or writing.
