STEM projects employ the imagination. These materials will create an atmosphere that encourages the use of imagination. The overall goal is to make sure that every child (regardless of background or disability) feel comfortable operating in the STEM class so that he/she will have an open mind to create. The diversity in the selected STEM books will allow ALL students to see themselves in the field of science. The sensory tools will help keep our special needs students engaged; some will be part of the room designated as the "Calming Corner," where students can decompress until he/she can successful engage with the rest of the students. "Diversity is being invited to the party, but inclusion is being asked to dance," Verna Myers. It is our hope that every student at our school is dancing and having fun at this party called STEM.
