After the devastation to the region by Hurricane Ida on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, students are left in similar situations. Students had damage to their school and their homes. As an adult in a similar situation, my sense of safety and security is shaken. To be EIGHT years old and experiencing the same trauma leaves me wanting to do everything I can to restore some normalcy in their little lives. By providing students with a school bag, they will be able to reclaim some normalcy and have something that belongs to them to store items that mean the most. I know it isn't much, but it is a necessity to help students feel like they have some control over their lives and their belongings.
