My students are a diverse group of children whose families come from many different countries such as Burma, Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic. I have 25 students in my classroom. They are sweet, energetic, and hard-working. They love everything about learning whether it is listening to stories, writing, making patterns, or observing things around them. They have been working hard to master the letters and sounds of the alphabet, as well as other phonological awareness skills, and building their sight word foundation all year long. Many of them are beginning to delve into the task of becoming independent and fluent readers. Our school is one of eleven different elementary schools within our district. My students are part of about a 330 student population. They all receive free lunch and breakfast. They come from families who love them and want them to be successful in their educational endeavors.
