"March Book Madness" is a book competition that occurs each spring around the same time as college basketball playoffs. The hype that this contest generates is essential in motivating students to pick up new, engaging books that will help them practice, practice, practice to meet their reading goals! All of our students deserve a chance to participate in this exciting contest - they just need access to the books! The majority of the books in this project were just announced as March Book Madness competitors. Students will need time to read these titles before voting in the spring, so now is the perfect time to get these books into students' hands! Other titles on this list are book series or selected authors that have been extremely popular with striving readers and ESL students in our classroom. Reluctant readers and natural bookworms alike will have access to these books in our classroom library. They will be able to read them in class, as well as take them home for reading practice each night. When they return them to the class library system, the books will be available to cycle through the rest of our class this year - as well as our middle schoolers for years to come!
