Learning about our earth requires students to see and feel the different materials that make up our planet. To that end, the materials in this project will help me provide students with experiences in handling and exploring rocks and minerals in the classroom. Many students are rock collectors but few have the knowledge of what their rocks are made of and how those rocks were formed. The items in this project will allow me to better teach students to recognize the key properties used by scientists to identify and classify earth materials.
