When students come in my classroom, it is a safe space where we talk about emotions and students days. Often students come to my classroom when they need a mental break. The materials requested help as a get away for students. Some express emotions through art and getting creative. I allow them to grab a paint brush, color, or marker and draw something that inspires them, or draw something that is in their mind. On the other hand, some students enter a different world through reading. Through books, some students learn to empathize with characters and they learn new coping skills. I would like to build a safe space for my students through art and books. My goal is to create a safe space reading environment in my classroom.
