My students are on a Chromebook for 6 straight hours each day. Having a classroom library will give them an opportunity to take short breaks away from the Chromebook while still doing something that has the ability to help expand their education. Our school does not have a library, so my students have no access to books unless someone takes them to the public library. Given the fact that my students are behind on their high school credits, many of them have not had a lot of success in their high school education and do not know how to read for enjoyment. Having access to books that they can relate to will help them learn that there is more to reading than fulfilling a school requirement.
