World Language and Art education are pillars of multicultural education. My scholars are in grades 9 through 12 with a plethora of dreams and talents. As my students' transition from distance learning, managing living in a pandemic on top of natural growing pains, incorporating art activities into our Spanish class helps deepen language learning and highlight cultural connections. Student art creations, such as a Soy Yo mural, provide liberating creative thought and reflection as we learn the history and transformative nature of Muralism. Muralism is one of the most accessible, recognizable, and universal thought-provoking art forms, as it was born out of the poor working class in Mexico City. This is a mini-mural, on canvas, about my students' interpretation of their life, their story, and their dreams.
