My students will use globes and maps to track the patterns and cycles of immigration to the United States. Using a globe to track the trip from Ireland to Ellis Island will help students envision this voyage. Various maps will allow students to visually understand the various patterns of immigration. Students will use laminated maps to track the movement of settlers in the 1800s , the Trail of Tears and the Great Migration. These activities will allow students to understand the cycles of migration in the United States. At the end of the learning process students will be able to discuss the similarities and differences in these moments.
