Fourth graders study the life cycle of salmon every year. We visit a salmon hatchery in the fall where students get to see spawning salmon and returning salmon runs. We then get salmon eggs to raise in our aquarium. Once they reach the fry stage we release them in a nearby stream. This is a very powerful experience. Unfortunately, our aquarium is very old and is not reliable. We would love to provide this amazing experience to our fourth graders, but we need a new aquarium to make this possible.
